Mexican Sour Gherkins

These adorable little things look like miniature watermelons and have a taste and crunch like cucumbers. They are, according to Wikipedia, called Melothria scabra, also known as the cucamelon, which is a vine grown for its edible fruit. The fruits are about the size of grapes and taste like cucumbers with a tinge of sourness. Vernacular names include mouse melon, Mexican sour gherkin, cucamelon, Mexican miniature watermelon, Mexican sour cucumber and pepquinos.

If you do nothing with them in a recipe, at least show them off on the crudite platter, because they are just as cute as can be, and so photogenic.
