How Cool is This?

Thanks to the Local Food Promotion Program Grant from the USDA, we got this amazing new walk-in cooler, and thanks to the help of a lot of our Fair Shares members, we were able to afford the buildout to put the walk-in behind our building with access from inside. This fancy new walk-in even has a separate room with its own thermostat for keeping the tomatoes at juuust the right temperature. Maybe we'll name this cooler Goldilocks.

After spending so many years with a cooler that was way too small, our work efficiency will increase tremendously, while creating an inverse correlation with our frustration level. Not only will this additional cooler space improve our efficiency and our sunny outlook, it will help us keep the produce colder and happier, too. This in turn should keep it fresher longer, thereby making our members happier. It's a win win win!

Carlile Contracting LLC and Thermal Refrigeration did great work!

Tip: How to Prep Cooking Greens

Prepping your greens can seem like a chore if you don't have a good system. Try this method for kale, collards, Swiss chard, spinach (if you're afraid of the stems), etc. and you'll find that it's easy eating greens! We even have a great little video demonstration.Read more

Yellow Dog Farms is a successful small farm in a large part due to Sara and Jamie at Fair Shares CCSA. They were willing to take a chance on a budding (pun intended) first generation Farmer. We were not a supplier to Fair Shares the very first year, but have been ever since and hopefully far into our shared futures.

I am proud to be a supplier and you should be proud to be a member of Fair Shares CCSA where we are all involved in growing and eating better quality, healthy food and supporting small, local businesses and small scale agriculture in Missouri and Illinois.
