With the earlier wet and hot weather wreaking such havoc on our summer produce, we are using the extra space in the shares as an opportunity to run through some of last season’s canned applesauce. This will help us make space on the shelves (and in the budget) for next season’s canning, much of which we have to pay for in the summer, when the fresh produce is ripe and ready. You can trade it if you really won’t use it, but it would be a big help if you could dust off that Applesauce Cake recipe, or maybe the Easy Breakfast Porridge recipe.
Don’t forget how good applesauce is served with pork. Just ask Bobby Brady.
