Fresh Rx is a program designed by Operation Food Search to connect qualifying families with fresh, local food and provide resources for a healthy household.

The Fresh Rx – Nurturing Healthy Starts program has been in the pilot phase since September. The official launch party was January 31st, so it’s hit the press and we’re hitting the ground running. We’re already delivering shares to over 20 participants and we expect those numbers to rise each week, with a max of around 70 participants per week, and over 400 total during the course of the four-year study. The goal of the project is to eliminate food insecurity during pregnancy in order to produce better birth outcomes for both moms and babies, with the ultimate goal of proving the value of prescribing food as a health benefit.

We’d like to share the fabulous new Fresh Rx website that has gorgeous photos of produce that you all might recognize, as well as recipes and a great database of produce items with info on storing and preparing them.
