All the farmers are telling us it’s a good year for winter squash, so dust off those recipes because we’ll be enjoying many varieties of winter squash this season, and probably all winter long!
We’ll put in the squashes with the shortest storage capability first, like the delicatas and the acorn, and then we’ll include more of the spaghetti, butternut, and other sturdier varieties.
Paul Krautmann picked thousands of pounds of squash over the weekend, including the pictured Lunga di Napoli squash, which weighed probably 80 pounds, he said! I asked him to bring photos, and the one here shows the squash with a quarter, for scale. If we give anyone a squash that size in the share, we’ll try to make sure you get a week or two without squash, so you have time to get through it.
