Examples

Rob

  • Who is in your family (animals do count)?

My wife is Grace, our daughter is Jinora (3.5), and we have a Russian tortoise named Ollie (~18 and yes you are reading that correctly).

  • How long have you been an employee at Fair Shares?

We have been members for 2 years, I started volunteering about a year and a half ago, and I have been an employee for 4 months.

  • Do you have another occupation?

I work part time for Fair Shares (about 50% of my work week). The other half I work for a company called Pathstream where I am a Data Analytics Instructor.

  • Is there a skillset or occupation that you can help provide our community (piano teacher, website creator, etc.)?

If you have a lot of data and want to find insights (metrics, dashboards, forecasting, etc.) from the data you have, or if you want to collect data to find new insights, then I am a good person to get into touch with. I have created a few dashboards for the Fair Shares team based on the data we collect.

  • What is your role or responsibilities at Fair Shares?

I decide what produce items go into shares each week (yes I am that person). I have a background in data science/analytics so I love anything that relates to the data we collect each week from our farmers and how that informs the decisions we make in our business. I do some social media creation such as creating these spotlight features.

  • What is your favorite vegetable/fruit you discovered because of Fair Shares?

We never knew what a paw paw was until we had them at Fair Shares. They are a fascinating fruit that when harvested at the right time are really yummy!

  • What local non-produce item (or vendor) do you love to purchase?

We love the butternut squash raviolis from Midwest Pasta Co. If we are searching for an easy dinner or have a special dinner we want to celebrate they are a family favorite.

  • What drew you to being an employee at Fair Shares?

What brought us to be members is we had been CSA members before when we lived in Iowa and liked the experience. My wife was also drawn to a women owned and run business.

Having lots of diverse data/supplier base plus Sara and Jamie’s willingness to support some of my ideas (mostly involving data) drew me to be an employee. They are awesome bosses and really want the best for their customers and employees.

  • What is your favorite part about being an employee at Fair Shares?

My favorite part of being a part of Fair Shares is it truly does feel like a community that cares for each other. I love to hear about other employees, volunteers, and member’s dreams and hobbies. Everyone really wants to see the other doing what they love and balancing a life that makes them happy.
