Tea Biscuits
Preparation
makes 4 or 6
2 c. flour
1 T. baking powder
1/3 c. butter (5 – 1/3 T.)
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1 egg (beaten)
Mix dry ingredients. Mix in butter
with a fork or pastry blender until
coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until
soft dough forms. Knead 10 times
on floured board. Pat dough into
3/4 inch thick rectangle. Cut in half,
then into 4 or 6 biscuits. Brush top
with egg. Bake 12-15 minutes in a
preheated 450F degree oven.
Great with honey, jam, or a slice of
ham.
