St. Louis Stringer
It seems silly to be creating a recipe for this perfectly simple little dish that made me think of a slinger. Most of you know the St. Louis Slinger, I’m sure. I personally have never been enticed enough to partake, but have certainly been revolted by watching others enjoy them. Anyway, I called this a Stringer because the fresh mozzarella melted just right so that it was like eating a pizza: stringy and awesome!
Preparation
Ingredients:
1 slice Miller’s 5 grain bread
1 beautiful and delectable, prefectly ripe and delicious tomato, preferably a firm slicer like the golden one I used, cut into nice fat slices
1 or 2 eggs
fresh mozzarella
Ozark Forest Red Hot Sauce
Krazy Jane salt and pepper
olive oil or butter
Preparation:
Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet that’s large enough to hold the bread and a couple slices of tomato. Fry your egg(s) to desired doneness and remove to a plate. Either butter or brush oil on your bread and grill it in the skillet on both sides. Put a couple tomato slices in the skillet to grill as well. Salt and pepper. Let the first side cook a minute and then turn them over and put your mozzarella slices on top. Cover to let the cheese get melty.
Put the grilled bread on the plate, top with cheesy tomatoes and then your egg(s). Add salt and pepper and hot sauce. Use a knife and fork and slurp it up in all its messy glory. Repeat as needed.
