How to Prep Fresh Bamboo Shoots

Don’t Be Bamboozled!

Bamboo shoots are a fun fresh spring vegetable with a very short season, so don’t miss the chance to add a new and exciting ingredient to your culinary repertoire!

Ozark Forest Bamboo Shoots: Peel the outer layers off to reveal the pretty green shoots. Slice into rings and bring to a boil in water with sea salt. Boil about 5 minutes, or until tender. Drain, eat some, store the rest in the fridge to add to salads or in stir fries or pasta. The taste is similar to artichoke hearts, and is far superior to the canned variety. Fun!
