Pan Seared Butter Lettuce

Pan Seared Butter Lettuce
INGREDIENTS
Fair Shares
Butter lettuce
Olive oil
Soy sauce
Other Ingredients
Shallot, chopped (about 1 tsp)
Hoisin sauce
METHOD
Quarter the lettuce head through the core. Heat about 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet and add the chopped shallot. Sauté for 20 seconds and add lettuce, cut side down. Drizzle with a bit of soy sauce. Flip lettuce quarters with tongs every 30 seconds or so until they char nicely. Finish with hoisin and serve immediately. They are also great later as a cold salad. For a different variation, you can sub sherry for the soy sauce and finish with a splash of lemon.
