Introducing Sarah Trone

Welcome to Season 19!

After many conversations, imaginings, and careful consideration of all the factors of the universe, we found a will and a way to keep the Fair Shares dream alive. We have all been on quite a journey together these past months, and we are so grateful for your patience, commitment, and belief in this community.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the first beautiful tastes of spring!

My name is Sarah Trone. I’m a former CSA grower with many years of experience in and around the work of feeding people. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of knowing many of the hardworking hands that make local food happen, and I know that work is essential for our communities. Along with the many capable hands who have steered the Mothership along the way, I am thrilled to help keep us all eating together!

Food is at the center of what we do here — and this food is truly some of the best there is. The story of Fair Shares has always been more than food, though, as I see it. It’s a story of community — of our farmers and the very future of farming. Of our excellent members and their families and the friends who share it. It’s having an intentional relationship with the land, the small conversations at pickup, the shared meals, and all the connections that make this community feel like the Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood of local food. That community, and those connections, are just too precious to lose.

The Good and Great Sisters of Fair Shares — Jamie and Lindy — are generously teaching us all that they know and will gradually move into less hectic roles along the way. Our hero Rob is working on a new project but will continue supporting us behind the scenes. Wildling adventurers Sara and Stephen Hale are still sailing the Atlantic, but keeping in touch and advising along the way. At pickups, you’ll be seeing many of the same familiar smiling faces at the Mothership, and some new friends too.

In this time, I’ve heard from so many folks — farmers, producers, members, family, and friends — who took the time to imagine having a hand in keeping Fair Shares going. I am honored to help as steward of this good work, but the truth is: we will all keep it going together, cooperatively.

We are evolving. Tell all your friends about Fair Shares! Heck, tell some strangers too!

Do you have special gifts to share? Reach out!

The shape of things may change along the way, but the essential truth remains: we need each other to grow.

We GROW together.

Here’s to the next chapter of Fair Shares. Thank you all for coming along for the ride!

In Solidarity!

Sarah
