Welcome to Fair Shares Season 14 Wk24

Half-Share Members: it's an even-week pickup--check your subscriptions in your Farmigo account if you are unsure whether you are an ODD- or EVEN-week half share. Please note that you will receive this newsletter weekly (you may request access to order through the store on your off weeks).

If you need to switch your pickup day, email us before 10a.m. Wednesday. Selecting the different day in the store is not the way to do it!

LOGIN HERE to make your trades and order. You may update your cart as many times as you like.
Your share will be packed for you whether you make trades and select a time or not, it just helps us have it ready when you arrive.

VACATION SHARE HOLD INFO: Please note that we order the produce on Monday, so we MUST have share holds in place before 8:00a.m. so that we can figure our numbers properly. You will be charged for the produce, which we can't sell, if you tell us or put your share on hold late.
Although you may put your share on hold (login and click the Delivery Hold tab), it would be EXTREMELY helpful to us and our farmers, who have upped production this season, if you found someone who might like to buy your share for the weeks you're gone, to try it out. Maybe you want to pay your petsitter or house sitter with some food, or maybe you have to give a present to someone, and we can make it easy on you!
Just FYI, WE HAVE 52 MEMBERS ON HOLD THIS WEEK--that's an entire pickup group!

Fair Shares October Ohm Break 10/4 through 10/8/2021

Speaking of vacation, heaven knows we all need one. Normally we take a September Sanity Break, but this year it will happen the following week, so mark your calendars (and maybe plan your own vacations accordingly). Half share members, note that this will be Week 29, so ODD-week members will have a whole month off, and EVEN-week members will be none the wiser. This is your TENTH of fourteen notices! 😃

Did you make anything wonderful over the weekend? Have great ideas to share on social media? Be sure to tag Fair Shares to let your friends and family know where you source your fabulous local foods.

Find us on Facebook, Twitter @fairsharesccsa, or Instagram. Participate in our group and share your pretty Fair Shares food photos on your own timeline to help us get more members! Thanks!

Cantaloupe and Fig Salad

Cantaloupe and Fig Salad
Beth Sorrell's Week 25 recipe

This salad is for the magical time when cantaloupe and figs are both in season. I seriously dream about it every year. I have changed up the cheese each time but the core ingredients of cantaloupe, figs, and prosciutto stay the same.

Tomato Pie 2

Tomato Pie 2
My mother-in-law Henny introduced me to Tomahto Pie (I spelled that phonetically, because it's pronounced a little differently here in the midwest). I would actually spell it TomAHHto Pie, because it was so good you couldn't help but sigh. This was a few years back, and just as I do with many recipes I get excited about, …

Loaded Summer Squash

Loaded Summer Squash
Beth Sorrell's Wk 24 recipe.

I love potato skins, so I had to try this! It really works with zucchini and summer squash.

Tomato Pie Pot

Tomato Pie Pot
Check again--that doesn't say Tomato Pot Pie, it's Tomato Pie Pot! I was craving tomato pie, but we had a LOT of tomato seconds, and a lot of staff and volunteers here at the Mothership to feed, so we decided to just put a thin layer of dry pasta in a deep soup pot and build the …

Guitar Lessons!

If COVID has taught us anything, it's how to be resourceful, and that having a hobby or project (such as playing guitar) is critical to your sanity and well-being.

Did your kids (or spouse) drive you nuts with their boredom this past year, or did you wish they would do something besides sit in front of the computer/television? Enter guitar lessons from a real live musician and Fair Shares volunteer Adam Lightnin' Hoskins (a founding member of Pokey LaFarge & the South City Three, and his current project Maximum Effort)!
Adam's website is: https://www.lightninhoskins.com/lessons
His email: LightninHoskins@gmail.com
Here is the latest article written about Adam:

Want to support your Fair Shares community? We've always wanted a platform for our members, employees and volunteers to post the services and goods they offer. Help us help one another!

Notes on Trades and Orders

If you have questions or an issue to resolve, please email info@fairshares.org. We get over 400 order confirmation emails in the orders@fairshares.org account and WE DO NOT CHECK THEM, so if you want a reply, use info@fairshares.org, which goes to both Jamie and Sara, and one of us will see it!

The share clipboards below will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart but you are welcome to buy extra.

Here's a video demo on how to make trades. Note that Farmigo has updated their system to allow you to click certain items in your cart that have variations for you to select. Here's the link to LOGIN.

NEW STORE CATEGORY!
We've been accumulating a number of small packs of protein items that don't quite fit the bill for a couple or a family, but may be juuuust right for one person. Check out the Wee Ones category in the store for a number of single-serve or perfect-for-two packages. 🐣

Please check the descriptions of items! Some things are sold by the pound so the actual price will be different from what's listed in the store. If what's in your bag is not what you were expecting, give it back. If you're at the Mothership, you may be able to choose something else.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account.
All members must complete trades and orders by 10:30a.m. Wednesday.
