Welcome to Fair Shares Season 15 Wk21

We'll see all Full Share, Mini Share, and ODD-week Half Share members this week.

All orders are due by 10:30 am Wednesday! If you don't make trades, your standard share list will be packed.

LOGIN HERE to select your time and ADD it in your cart. (Mercy South members don't need to select a time.) Make sure that you receive your order confirmation email, or your order didn't go through.
Note that you may update your cart as many times as you like. Your share will be packed for you whether you select a time or not, it just helps us have it ready when you arrive.

Share Holds Must Be Made By Monday Morning!

Please note that we need to know by Monday morning if you won't be picking up your share so we don't purchase the produce. We know there are emergency situations that come up, and we often end up with a lot of extra produce we have to donate, so knowing in advance whenever possible saves us, time, space, work and money. Thanks!

Have a vacation coming up and need to pay someone for looking after your house or pets? Share your share!

You can always let someone else pick up your share each week if you are out of town. That individual gets to try our tasty food and our farmers get the reliability of consistent member counts while you are away. It's a win win! Make sure to let us know at info@fairshares.org

Eating Grapes With Seeds

grapes
Unless you are just juicing them or cooking them down and straining out the seeds, eating grapes with seeds can be a challenge if you haven't perfected the art. Of course, you can add them to your granola and just pretend they are part of the cereal, like grape nuts (which they are, actually)…Read more

Cantaloupe and Fig Salad

Cantaloupe and Fig Salad
Cantaloupe and Fig Salad This salad is for the magical time when cantaloupe and figs are both in season. I seriously dream about it every year. Garnier Gourmet Garlic

It is recommended that you consume the garlic we have available right now within a couple of weeks. The growers discovered some of the crop had a disease called Fusarium Basal Rot. Here is what they said about it:

Infected cloves are recommended not to be consumed and the symptoms begins with a deterioration of the bottom part of the garlic head (the root end) which then spreads to the cloves causing them to become yellow and ultimately decay. During harvest, heads with infected cloves are discarded as the majority of infection can be identified without removing the tunics and the bulbs are checked once more before being shipped out. With that said, it is absolutely plausible that an infected clove is missed. In the case an infected clove is discovered once the tunic is removed, simply discard it. The clove would either be distinctly yellow and dull and/or have an apparent area of infection on an individual clove. Oftentimes only one or a few cloves are infected with the rest of the bulb still healthy. It can be eaten now, frozen or roasted.

Any loss that you were to experience, we would reimburse or eat the cost entirely although we expect that to be minimal because of our quality control.

So as we would always recommend, eat it up! If by chance you do find any problem with your garlic, please send us a photo by email so we can get it replaced or refunded.

Zucchini Grilled Cheese

Zucchini Grilled Cheese
This recipe uses baked zucchini "fritters" as the bread for grilled cheese sandwiches. WHAAAT? A healthy grilled cheese? Sign me up! A food processor makes short order of the prep and it bakes up pretty quick for an easy and delicious lunch or light dinner. Adapted from a recipe sent in by forever-member Judy Boland… Read more

Callie Needs a Loving Home!

As much as we selfishly would like to keep Callie at Fair Shares and enjoy her sweet, fun kittenness, we know she would do better having a full-time family to love and care for her.

She has been fixed, but will need her shots. She's good with other cats and loves her people and enjoys playing with toys.

If you or someone you know is looking for a new friend to adopt, please email info@fairshares.org. We know she will be timid at first, and will need a little time to adjust. We really would appreciate your help vetting her new family because she's pretty special to us.

She's also useful in the office, and is happy to help if you need some printing tasks done.

Notes on Trades and Orders

If you have questions or an issue to resolve, please email info@fairshares.org rather than replying to the email or we may not see it.

The share clipboards below include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart but you are welcome to buy extra.

Here's a video demo on how to make trades. Here's the link to LOGIN.
Please check the descriptions of items! Some things are sold by the pound so the actual price will be different from what's listed in the store. If what's in your bag is not what you were expecting, give it back. If you're at the Mothership, you may be able to choose something else.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account.

Note regarding "Choice" items in your shares:
The tradable "choice" items will be in your cart, and you can click the item to see what choices it mentions in the description, then make your selection via the online store by placing your choice in your cart and deleting the "choice" from your cart. For the produce wildcards and choices, we can't always guarantee whether you'll get to make the choice or we do--that's the CSA aspect of our program.
