Important Notes for Members...

Kirkwood Members: Our porch host will be away for the next several Thursdays, through 6/22, but will allow us to use her porch for pre-arranged pickups only. She will not be there to monitor missed pickups, so any shares not picked up at the church that have not been pre-arranged for porch pickup will be returned to the Mothership. Any pre-arranged porch pickups who do not pick up their shares will not get a reminder alert. Please set an extra notice to yourself to make the Kirkwood pickups in a timely manner.

Summer Vacations: Sadly, just as the produce really begins to pick up, it's time for summer vacations! Although we are happy to offer the ability to put your shares on hold, we would like to remind everyone that offering your pet and house sitters your Fair Shares pickup makes a great payment, and helps us keep our promise of steady weekly purchases from our farmers. Just tell them your pickup name/group, date, location and pickup time window (they don't have to select a specific time). If you wish to share your login info and tell them how to make trades, you are welcome to do so.

Ripe and Buggy Produce: We all want organic produce, right? Who wants to eat produce that bugs won't eat? When those bugs are alive, you know it's fresh! All kidding aside, the way to deal with buggy produce is to remove the bugs before storing them in the fridge. Just make up a bath of water with salt or vinegar added and soak until the bugs are floating or sinking to the bottom. Some may need a little extra time, and maybe an extra shake to get them off. Assess which produce will hold and which should be eaten or processed right away--it's all a game of timing with Seasonal eating.

Revive Your Wilting Greens: Wilting greens aren't dead and they aren't compost--if you catch them soon enough. They are just thristy! Give them a nice cool bath of water and allow them a few hours to perk right back up.

Cherry Pie

Recipe here!
FS16 Wk11 Shares, 6/7&8/2023
Cherry season is painfully short, and sadly, we don't have a sweet cherry source this year, so please, take advantage of tart cherry season and give yourself the gift of a few bags of tart cherries to delight you in the fall or wintertime. Pitting cherries is not the most enjoyable task, but honestly, if you're just doing a few pints, it goes quickly, I always liked doing several flats so I could have a few quarts for the upcoming seasons, because Cherry Delight! The best method we've found is to use a paper clip to dig into the stem end of the cherry and drag it out. Some people find just using their fingers works best. Whichever you do, pit them over a bowl and save the juice, too. Fill zip locks and chuck them in the freezer. You'll thank me later.

Notes on Trades and Orders

If you have questions or an issue to resolve, please email info@fairshares.org. We get nearly 400 order confirmation emails in the orders@fairshares.org account and WE DO NOT ALWAYS CHECK THEM, so if you want a reply, use info@fairshares.org, which goes to both Jamie and Sara, and one of us will see it.

The share clipboards below will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart but you are welcome to buy extra.

Here's a video demo on how to make trades. Note that Farmigo has updated their system to allow you to click the items in your cart that have variations for you to select. Here's the link to LOGIN.

Please check the descriptions of items! Some things are sold by the pound (indicated by /lb. in the item name) so the actual price will be different from what's listed in the store. If what's in your bag is not what you were expecting, give it back. If you're at the Mothership, you may be able to choose something else. This is particularly important on items like bulk chicken breasts, where the item price shows the price per pound, but the package weight may be five pounds.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account.
