Welcome to Week 35

We look forward to seeing all full-share, mini-share, ODD-week half-share and Delivered-share members tomorrow and Thursday.

Delivered Share Members: Check for the video describing this week's Delivered share here on our Fair Shares YouTube Channel by mid morning Thursday.

We offer Gift Memberships
What do you give to the person who has everything, or that newlywed couple who doesn't need a new blender? Give the gift of food!

Just let us know the amount of money or the number of weekly shares you would like to purchase and we can work out the details. It's a great present to go in on with friends or family--the holidays are coming up!

Farmers markets are on the monthly winter schedule, but we're still getting tons of good food in the shares, so please let your friends know they can continue to support the local farmers and our local economy by joining Fair Shares!

Trades and Additional Purchases

Please include your pickup group in your trades and orders emails (this is your name and your assigned pickup group/Delivery location that we sent you when you joined. We have over 400 members in 24 different groups, and we're really good, but...it sure will save us time. Thanks!

Remember, fresh produce IS NOT tradable, but you're welcome to order extra. You can read the rules of trading and the price lists on the Trades and Orders page of our website (note you must be logged in to access this page).

Place orders by noon (Delivered-share members, please email by 9:30a.m. Thursday OR after you've received the Wednesday evening newsletter.  Because we may have different items available, please check the Wednesday evening newsletter for the updated produce list). Email orders@fairshares.org -- you can just reply to this email.

You might not guess today's date based on the array of fresh produce available right now.

APPLES: Non-organically grown Jonathan apples from Schwartz Orchard: 4/$2.25. These are getting a bit soft for just eating out of hand, if you are a fan of crunchy crunchy apples, but they are perfect for pies, crisps, smoothies, etc. Or try the yummy dish below...

Sometimes inspiration strikes, but it's more of a strike out. And sometimes, the heavens open and the angels do sing... This was such a happy lunch that I had to do it again for dinner. The third time, I omitted the ham and substituted pecans; the angels started singing in rounds.Read more

Everyone says sexy food pics entice people to try a recipe, so enjoy! This simple gratin can be altered, adjusted, seasoned as you see fit, but the simplicity here really allows the pure, delicious flavors of the produce to shine. Plus, heavy cream? I ask you, what could be bad?Read more
This soup calls for chocolate! Yep, that's right. Dark chocolate adds a great depth of flavor to the earthiness of the beets and the sweetness of the squash.Read more
I was obsessed with this recipe a few years ago when Arianna first adapted it from Smitten Kitchen. The original recipe called for celery, but since we don't have celery locally, she substituted Japanese Turnips. It was delicious and I resurrect it every year.Read more
I heart this radicchio! Not just because it's beautiful and tells you sweet nothings while you slice it, but because it tastes great, too. This chicory looks a lot like a tall, thin head of romaine, but the leaves are wrapped like a rose and make a lovely picture when sliced crosswise. This recipe couldn't be simpler, and it's a method more than a recipe, but learn it and use it, often. You will become as boring as me in your cooking, yet everything will taste delicious.Read more
