Welcome to Fair Shares Week 7!

We'll see all Full-share, Mini-share, Delivered-share and ODD-week Half-share members on Wednesday and Thursday.

New Kirkwood Location Starting Week 8

We are moving our pickup location to Kirkwood United Methodist Church at Clay and Adams starting next week. We will send a separate email with all the pertinient info after this week's delivery. Many thanks to the Guilemots for hosting us these first seven weeks!

 Attention ALL Members

Got Solar? Please take a second to help out our favorite (and only) INvolunteer Stephen Hale by voting in the Brews From the Sun Competition for The Saint Louis Brewery - Schlafly Beer as your favorite solar-powered brewery. The Maplewood Schlafly Bottleworks location has been sporting a 125-panel solar array since 2012. We're starting to explore solar for Fair Shares, too!

Notes on Trades and Orders
Please do not add items to your cart until your tradable share items have been added. Note that the share clipboards in the newsletter will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart because it will not be added back to our account. If you are trading for meat or fish that is priced per pound, you may want to email (reply to this email) to let us know your intention, e.g. whether you are trying to trade close to even, or whether you are looking for three packages of boneless thighs versus three pounds of boneless thighs. With the variability of package sizes and the limitations of the online store listing, sometimes it's helpful to avoid big surprises when we have to guess.

If you order before receiving the newsletter, you may see a discrepancy in pricing or availability because we don't send the newsletter until we've updated the store.

Login to your account to swap items from your cart and add extras.

Fair Shares Mothership and UCity Pickup Members: The online store closes at 11am on the day of your pickup, so be sure to login and make your trades before then.

Kirkwood and Delivered Share Members: You have until 9:00 on Thursday morning to place orders. Remember to swap out the "choice" items in your cart if you have a preference, e.g. Del Carmen variety, vanilla regular vs. plain Greek yogurt, regular gyro meat vs. spinach and feta gyro, brown vs. white rice, oyster vs. shiitake or mushroom mix, etc. when available.

I first saw asparagus pesto in a New York Times piece by Mark Bittman. It was a really good recipe. I decided to make it again over the weekend, and just threw it together from memory. Really, you can't go wrong however you want to adapt this recipe.Read more
I like treating gnocchi like the sassy little dumplings that they are. I rarely boil them in water, and more often bake them or just toss them in with the other ingredients in the dish, allowing them to cook through, from frozen to a little fluffy, and hopefully even crispy and browned a bit.Read more
This delicious, simple, 20-minutes-to-make, two-minutes-to-eat recipe is messy and not really as much of a wrap as it is a pick it up and stuff it in your mouth thing. Fun and addictive. I'm already looking forward to leftovers. See the even faster, lazier version here, too!Read more
It's lettuce season. This is the time of the year when organizing a combined CSA gets difficult. When everyone who grows lettuce for us has lettuce ready, and we have committed to buying their lettuce, we all get a little tired of salads. Now you may wonder why we would commit to purchasing lettuce from so many farmers, and that's a good question, with a reasonable answer: the weather makes us do it.Read more
This recipe was made up after the fact, based on very fuzzy recollections from a tropical vacation on a boat several years ago, along with another recipe for Mushroom-Polenta Collard Rolls I found online. I adjusted the recipe based on what we did, as well as can be remembered. What I do remember was that this was delicious. Since we have a variety of greens in the shares, I would say that Swiss chard would make a great substitute.Read more
Salads with fresh seasonal fruit and nuts make springtime such a joy, and this homemade salad dressing says "I love you" (even if you're just talking to yourself, because who are we really kidding here? I'm cooking for me--if you happen to be here and get some of my leftovers, well, lucky you...).Read more
