Welcome to Fair Shares Week 47!

We'll see all Full-share, Mini-share, Delivered-share and ODD-week Half-share members on Wednesday and Thursday.

Only TWO weeks left in Season 12 before our March break!
That means half share members have only one more pickup.

ODD week members - this is your final share before Season 13, Week 1 on March 25 &26. Stock up on eggs and staples to get you through until the shopping day (see below).
Even week members, next week will be your final pickup until Season 13, Week 2 on April 1 and 2 (no fooling).

We will start back with Season 13, Week 1 on the last full week of March, Wednesday the 25th and Thursday the 26th.

Please let us know if you would like extra milk next week for the final pickup before the break.

Happy-hour Shopping Day
Mark Your Calendars: We're planning a happy-hour shopping day on Friday, March 13th from 3 to 6, and will beg everyone to come shop during our break to help us out. We can order milk for everyone interested in getting some that week, so please click here to email orders@fairshares.org and let us know by Friday the 6th.

Friday, February 28th is National CSA Day and we need your help! We are promoting it right now so we can get potential members to do a two-week trial and then sign up by the 28th in order to receive a special bonus. See the post below for more info. Many thanks to those of you who have commented about us, shared our links and tried to convince your friends to join. We love you!

Trades and Orders

ALL MEMBERS please place online trades and orders by Wednesday at 11a.m.

Remember not to order until your tradable share items have been added. Note that the share clipboards in the newsletter will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart because it will not be added back to your account. If you are trading for meat or fish that is priced per pound (check the description), you may want to email (reply to this email) to let us know your intention, e.g. whether you are trying to trade close to even, or whether you are looking for three packages of boneless thighs versus three pounds of boneless thighs. With the variability of package sizes and the limitations of the online store listing, sometimes it's helpful to avoid big surprises when we have to guess.

If you order before receiving the newsletter, you may see a discrepancy in pricing or availability because we don't send the newsletter until we've updated the store.

Login to your account to swap items from your cart and add extras. Remember you can customize your cheese, yogurt, gyro, Del Carmen, Wildcard$ and other choices by switching these items to your preferred choices in your cart.

KIRKWOOD MEMBERS:  Special thanks to the angel in Kirkwood who has tidied up the the bags and tubs for Lindy's Friday morning retrieval!
Please remember - we request that the THIRD-to-last-person text us the names on the remaining bags when you pick up.
If you are one of the last two people, you may be appreciative of the reminder to fetch your food. We also need the last bag pickup member to let us know everyone has picked up. Lindy's phone number is on the clipboard. Thanks!

Special thanks to Joanne McAndrews for pointing us to this recipe on myheartbeets.com. We know that some people get a bit weary of the winter produce, so we're happy to suggest some flavorful recipes that might take you down the path of exploring different cuisines. Pretend you're vising a different country and try cooking North Indian for an entire week. The spice combinations are exciting and flavorful and add new dimension to some of those root vegetables that sit idle in the fridge for weeks on end.Read more

If you don't live in Soulard, you may not even be aware that it's Mardi Gras season. Having lived in the neighborhood for 26+ years, I can only say Lucky you. But we will celebrate in great taste with a big pot of semi-traditional Beans and Rice. Laissez le bon temps rouler!Read more
What is CSA Day?... According to research done by Small Farm Central in 2015, the last week of February was the week when most of the nation’s CSA members signed up. As a result, the term CSA Day was coined to help farmers promote more sign-ups during this all-important week.Read more

This recipe was made up after the fact, based on very fuzzy recollections from a tropical vacation on a boat several years ago, along with another recipe for Mushroom-Polenta Collard Rolls I found online. I adjusted the recipe based on what we did, as well as can be remembered. What I do remember was that this was delicious. Since we have a variety of greens in the shares, I would say that Swiss chard would make a great substitute.Read more
