Welcome to Fair Shares Week 10!

We'll see all Full-share, Mini-share, Delivered-share and EVEN-week Half-share members on Wednesday and Thursday.

 Christmas in July

Not really, but that's what it will feel like when we take the week of 4th of July off! Since Independence Day is on a Thursday, we will skip the week. This will be Week 14, and rather than mess with the numbers and confuse the ENTIRE membership, we will just put everyone who regularly would have a pickup that week on hold. This way the ODD-week half shares won't have their routines affected at all. Delivered, Mini and Full shares will skip one week. EVEN-week half shares, on the other hand, will have a whole month without a share, so be sure to plan accordingly. This is your Official Notice #1.

Speaking of SUMMER VACATIONS...

We have more than 20 people who have requested to put their shares on hold for this week. Although we are now able to accommodate your vacations, we must have ample notice so that we don't order the produce for you! You may login to your account to put your share on hold, but if your request is made after the Sunday midnight deadline, you will be charged for the non-perishables in your share. Thanks for understanding.

Notes on Trades and Orders
Please do not add items to your cart until your tradable share items have been added. Note that the share clipboards in the newsletter will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart because it will not be added back to our account. If you are trading for meat or fish that is priced per pound, you may want to email (reply to this email) to let us know your intention, e.g. whether you are trying to trade close to even, or whether you are looking for three packages of boneless thighs versus three pounds of boneless thighs. With the variability of package sizes and the limitations of the online store listing, sometimes it's helpful to avoid big surprises when we have to guess.

If you order before receiving the newsletter, you may see a discrepancy in pricing or availability because we don't send the newsletter until we've updated the store.

Login to your account to swap items from your cart and add extras. Remember you can customize your cheese, yogurt, gyro, Del Carmen and other choices by switching these items in your cart.

Fair Shares Mothership and UCity Pickup Members: The online store closes at 11am on the day of your pickup, so be sure to login and make your trades before then.

Kirkwood and Delivered Share Members: You have until 9:00 on Thursday morning to place orders.

Member Joanne McAndrews shared another "newsletter-worthy" recipe with us this week, and it looks great for those of you getting bok choy in your shares. You can incorporate a good number of Fair Shares ingredients into this healthy and satisfying meal!Read more
Fair Shares member Joanne McAndrews sent along a recipe she found that offers a great way to include zucchini in a non-traditional method: as part of a chicken burger. We've tried this trick with turkey using Ottolenghi's Jeruselem cookbook and had outstanding results! This recipe comes via Parade Magazine from Mostly Plants by Michael Pollan, famed author of Omnivore's Dilemma.Read more
Look out, cucumber has fled the kitchen and become your new health food, beauty secret and handyman. After reading this list from Conscious Life News, we'll all be carrying around a cucumber or two in our pockets, and everyone will be happy to see us.Read more
Some vegetables are just so photogenic. Take shell peas, with their winning smile. Even naked (out of their skins, woo woo), peas are cute and cuddly. We're asking every new farmer who asks what we're lacking to grow them for us, so hopefully we'll be swimming in them within a year or two, and that's sure to make you smile.Read more
This delicious, simple, 20-minutes-to-make, two-minutes-to-eat recipe is messy and not really as much of a wrap as it is a pick it up and stuff it in your mouth thing. Fun and addictive. I'm already looking forward to leftovers. See the even faster, lazier version here, too!Read more
It doesn't get much more simple, or simply delicious than this. Four ingredients and you will never look at broccoli the same again.Read more
