Welcome to Week 36!

We'll see all Full Shares, EVEN-week Half Shares, Mini Shares and Delivered Shares this week.

Notice regarding Thanksgiving week shares two weeks ago:  I copied last season's Thanksgiving week share lists into my current season Excel file and didn't realize that the top line in each of the shares was not included in the sum total. This means the meat wasn't counted in my tally, so I will be going a little short on the shares for a couple of weeks to make up the missing charge. This is my first-ever mistake so it really threw me for a loop.

Fair Shares Holiday Schedule

Happy Hannukah! We will take off the week of Christmas, so there will be no pickups or deliveries December 26 and 27. We will put your shares on hold so all Full, Mini, Delivered and ODD-week half share members will not be charged for the week. If you wish to donate that week to help pay for our (seemingly semi-annual) freezer/cooler failure, feel free to login to your account and remove the share hold. Otherwise know that it is supposed to be there.

BYOB = Bring Your Own Bags. We are happy to help you out when you forget or are picking up unexpectedly. If you are sending someone to pick up for you, please let them know to bring bags.

Reminder: Please wait until your weekly share items have been added to your cart before selecting any items from the store. You don't have to wait until the newsletter is sent, but keep in mind that the store updating will not have been completed before you receive the newsletter. If the store is closed by the time you check, you may logout to browse the store and send us an email, but we may not see it before you pick up because we often aren't at our computers all afternoon.

Online Store Order Deadlines:
- 11 a.m. for Wednesday pickup groups
- 9 a.m. for Thursday Delivered shares
- 12:00 Noon for Thursday pickup groups

If you send in your trades and orders and wish to add on or make changes, you may safely do so up until your ordering deadline without it messing anything up. The final cart content is what shows up on the report we use to pull orders.

We've been struggling to have everything ready for Wednesday pickups to start on time at 3:30, so if you're able, please come a little later, or if you arrive early to pickup and we're scrambling to finish setting up, feel free to jump in--we're happy to have our community participate in our Community Supported Agriculture!

Keeping the inventory in the store accurate is extra difficult with our system and schedule, so if we are out of something you request, we may contact you if time allows, or send an alternative option. You can always trade it and select something different from the swap items available at your pickup site (sorry, this option is not available to Delivery to Groups members). If you're looking for something you don't see, just email/ask because we might have it even if it isn't in the store.

Login to your Farmigo account to swap out the tradable items in your cart.

Nobody could believe this was carrot tops--yeah, the ones that usually end up in your compost instead of your chicken broth. Use as a dip for veggies (like the carrots whence the greens came), a spread for crackers, or toss over pasta, meat, fish, rice, etc. An easy, basic pesto recipe that replaces the basil with carrot tops. Simply delicious.Read more
In the mood for noodles with Thai peanut sauce, or maybe a gooey, cheesy lasagna? Is Mexican striking your fancy tonight? Asian fusion? Go on, prepare it with spaghetti squash.Read more
This is a tasty and versatile method for a fairly low-cal and vegan pasta sauce with Asian spices. You can adjust it to go more Italianish in the spices, and use chicken broth and add meat and cheese if you like, but it was pretty flavorful as is.Read more
Thanks to the suggestion of a Fair Shares member who has the same luscious cookbook called Jerusalem which I highly recommend, I made this delicious dip. I adapted it to use only Fair Shares ingredients (and because I'm lazy and didn't want to peel and cut up the raw squash), and I served it with sliced carrots, radishes, and of course bread--mmmm.Read more
This is one of my favorite combinations. The spicy and creamy texture in a rich, hearty soup is so satisfying. Use any winter squash here--the kabochas or buttercup have a nice, dense texture, perfect for a thick soup that can double as a side dish.Read more
