Welcome to Week 32!

We'll see all Full Shares, EVEN-week Half Shares, Mini Shares and Delivered Shares this week.

Thanksgiving Schedule

THANKSGIVING IS TWO WEEKS AWAY!  Reserve your fresh, pastured turkey by Wednesday the 14th. Please let your friends and family know they don't have to be Fair Shares members to purchase a Buttonwood fresh turkey through us! You can share the link below with them.

Pickups will be Monday and Tuesday that week at the Mothership, and UCity and Kirkwood shares will pick up on Tuesday the 20th, regular hours.
Fair Shares pickup members may come either day. If you order a fresh turkey, it will be available for pickup at your regular pickup site.
Delivered Share Members: You will receive a double share next week because we will not be sending a share Thanksgiving week.

The Thanksgiving shares will include some items for Thanksgiving, such as sweet potatoes, carrots and applesauce, and we'll attempt to get the lists and newsletter out by end of day Friday the 16th, but no promises, it might be Saturday.

GET MILK? We need to know if you want your regularly scheduled milk for Thanksgiving week because we need to order early. If you would like to order cream or extra milk for the holiday food preparations, tell us at your pickup or send a separate email by noon on Sunday the 11th.

BYOB = Bring Your Own Bags. We are happy to help you out when you forget or are picking up unexpectedly. If you are sending someone to pick up for you, please let them know to bring bags.

Reminder: Please wait until your weekly share items have been added to your cart before selecting any items from the store. You don't have to wait until the newsletter is sent, but keep in mind that the store updating will not have been completed before you receive the newsletter. If the store is closed by the time you check, you may logout to browse the store and send us an email, but we may not see it before you pick up because we often aren't at our computers all afternoon.

NOTICE: We don't have a lot of produce available in the store this week. It seems fall fell. Let's see what next week looks like. In the meantime, enjoy cleaning out the fridge.

Online Store Order Deadlines:
- 11 a.m. for Wednesday pickup groups
- 9 a.m. for Thursday Delivered shares
- Noon for Thursday pickup groups

If you send in your trades and orders and wish to add on or make changes, you may safely do so up until your ordering deadline without it messing anything up. The final cart content is what shows up on the report we use to pull orders.

We've been struggling to have everything ready for Wednesday pickups to start on time at 3:30, so if you're able, please come a little later, or if you arrive early to pickup and we're scrambling to finish setting up, feel free to jump in--we're happy to have our community participate in our Community Supported Agriculture!

Keeping the inventory in the store accurate is extra difficult with our system and schedule, so if we are out of something you request, we may contact you if time allows, or send an alternative option. You can always trade it and select something different from the swap items available at your pickup site (sorry, this option is not available to Delivery to Groups members). If you're looking for something you don't see, just email/ask because we might have it even if it isn't in the store.

Login to your Farmigo account to swap out the tradable items in your cart.

More questions? Check here on our FAQ page. The FAQ is located under the Basics tab on the website, in case you need to look it up later.

You can tell all your friends, too, because even non-members are welcome to purchase their Thanksgiving turkeys from Fair Shares! You can order just breasts, legs or thighs, too.Read more
Ginger is famous for its spicy root, but the stem and greens offer a milder flavor and can be eaten fresh or cooked. The leaves may be a bit course, so work well minced fine and added to salad, dressings, soups and in any recipe where you would use fresh ginger. The great thing about fresh-from-the-ground ginger is that it doesn't need to be peeled and the entire plant is edible. Now, let's see what we can do with those cabbages and Asian greens...Read more
Try this super-filling, satisfyingly spicy meatless meal made entirely from Fair Shares winter ingredients (all except the sesame oil). It's simple, but exceedingly delicious.Read more
Rather than getting bored with your winter squash, spice it up a bit with a fresh sprinkle of variety.Read more
This is one of my favorite combinations. The spicy and creamy texture in a rich, hearty soup is so satisfying. Use any winter squash here--the kabochas or buttercup have a nice, dense texture, perfect for a thick soup that can double as a side dish.Read more
We met a wonderful Moroccan farmer through the International Institute this year. Zhour Naim grew some of our sunchokes, and the Egyptian green onions. When I told her we cooked Chinese for Thanksgiving, Zhour said she should give us some Moroccan recipes. I told her love Moroccan, and the next thing we knew she was cooking us a sunchoke tagine and Moroccan bread! How lucky are we? She shared the recipe, which she says is very loose and adaptable to a variety of vegetables.Read more
