Welcome to Week 30!

We'll see all Full Shares, EVEN-week Half Shares, Mini Shares and Delivered Shares this week.

HALLOWEEN NOTICE: UCity pickup members, did you read last week's special email we sent about the Halloween pickup ending early next Wednesday? Check in with your UCity volunteers to let them know if you can be there before 5:45.

THANKSGIVING IS FOUR WEEKS AWAY!  It's time to reserve your fresh, pastured turkey. See info below.

BYOB = Bring Your Own Bags. We are happy to help you out when you forget or are picking up unexpectedly. If you are sending someone to pick up for you, please let them know to bring bags.

Reminder: Please wait until your weekly share items have been added to your cart before selecting any items from the store. You don't have to wait until the newsletter is sent, but keep in mind that the store updating will not have been completed yet until you receive the newsletter. If the store is closed by the time you check, you may logout to browse the store and send us an email, but we may not see it before you pick up because we often aren't at our computers all afternoon.

NOTICE: We don't have a lot of produce available in the store this week. It seems fall fell. Let's see what next week looks like. In the meantime, enjoy cleaning out the fridge.

Online Store Order Deadlines:
- 11 a.m. for Wednesday pickup groups
- 9 a.m. for Thursday Delivered shares
- Noon for Thursday pickup groups

If you send in your trades and orders and wish to add on or make changes, you may safely do so up until your ordering deadline without it messing anything up. The final cart content is what shows up on the report we use to pull orders.

We've been struggling to have everything ready for Wednesday pickups to start om time at 3:30, so if you're able, please come a little later, or if you arrive early to pickup and we're scrambling to finish setting up, feel free to jump in--we're happy to have our community participate in our Community Supported Agriculture!

Keeping the inventory in the store accurate is extra difficult with our system and schedule, so if we are out of something you request, we may contact you if time allows, or send an alternative option. You can always trade it and select something different from the swap items available at your pickup site (sorry, this option is not available to Delivery to Groups members). If you're looking for something you don't see, just email/ask because we might have it even if it isn't in the store.

Login to your Farmigo account to swap out the tradable items in your cart.

More questions? Check here on our FAQ page. The FAQ is located under the Basics tab on the website, in case you need to look it up later.

Order by Wednesday the 14th! Matt and Eleanor Tiefenbrun of Buttonwood Farm have our pastured, happy turkeys well under way. Sign up to reserve yours--Thanksgiving is right around the corner. You can tell all your friends, too, because even non-members are welcome to purchase their Thanksgiving turkeys from Fair Shares! You can order just breasts, legs or thighs, too.Read more
Roasting chestnuts is easy, but the preparation can seem laborious if you aren't in love with chestnuts like I am, or if you don't use the right tool, or if you haven't done it numerous times. It's worth it, I asure, and I would be happy to give a demonstration if you pick up at the Mothership.Read more
Beautiful, showy radishes command attention on an appetizer plate or your salad. Watermelon radishes are large with green to white skin and a dazzling fuscia-red flesh. They are sweet and mild in flavor and entirely approachable. Purple daikons have a starburst of spectacular purple "tie-dye" inside. Surprise!Read more
The Spanish name for this sounds much more appealing than the English translation: Chili with Fingers, but hey, it's for Halloween! You can serve it over the black and orange Halloween pasta, too. This recipe produced a delicious chili that would be great for other times of the year if you simply brown the sausage and cut them into smaller pieces so they don't look like floating fingers. Then you could just call it Chili con Carne.Read more
If you haven't yet tried the Del Carmen Cuban Mojo, here is a delicious preparation using chicken meat, but you can use it with salmon, tofu, pork chops or any ground meat.Read more

Go Topless!

Woo woo. Take it off baby! When you receive root veggies with the greens attached, it's important to remove the tops from the roots. The greens are edible if they're in good shape--yes, even radish greens--and don't think that just because they are wilted that they are not good. They are just thirsty! Why? Because the roots and the greens are competing for the moisture in the plant. This is why you want to separate them. It will help keep your greens perky and your roots firm. Just cut off the roots below the rubber band or twist tie and... Read more
