 FINAL Notice (#6): Fair Shares will not have pickup/delivery next week, July 4th and 5th! 
 We have put everyone's share on hold for next week so that your accounts will not be charged. If you would prefer to donate that week, go ahead and take the hold off. :) 

 Note to EVEN Half-Share Members, you will not have a pickup next week, so we won't see you until July 18/19! If you would like to come in this week or the week after 4th of July to shop or take a share, email us or just come on in. 



We have a few whole milk available in the store if you you'd like to order an extra.

A Note About Our Online Store
Keeping the inventory in the store accurate is next to impossible with our system and schedule, so if we are out of something you request, we may contact you if time allows, or send an alternative option. You can always trade it and select something different from the swap items available at your pickup site (sorry, this option is not available to Delivery to Groups members). If you're looking for something you don't see, just email/ask because we might have it even if it isn't in the store.

Delivered share members must order by 9:00am on your delivery day.
Pickup members must order by noon on your pickup day.

From Rags to Riches

This is Vincent, one of our former Fair Shares ferals (thanks to everyone who donates to our current three ferals through the store!), who traded in the rough and tumble outdoor life for a full-time soux chef position at the Hale household. Vinnie loves to cook (and eat) and runs to the kitchen whenever he hears the produce drawer or a produce bag. He hovers underfoot until offered something fun to play with--he particularly enjoys garlic scapes, as evidenced in the video below.

We're losing two more amazing Fair Shares volunteers to real, paying jobs (I'm so sure). Congratulations, Anne and Emily! We're SOOO happy for you! Oh, and by the way, our two other Tuesday volunteers are out of town in July, too.

Anne Posega, UCity member for a million years, has been volunteering in UCity at the pickup for a number of years, and last summer came to help us out at the Mothership on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Anne has become invaluable in getting all the food weighed, measured, counted, divvied into groups and pulled for pickups each week. She starts a new job on July 16th so this is her second to last week!

Emily Levin, FS member forever, also joined us last summer to help weigh, organize, and pull orders with Anne on Wednesdays, as well as helping members get their food at the start of pickups. Emily is starting a job in August, so we will definitely be needing some help! Especially since we are about to begin an exciting new Venture with Operation Food Search called Fresh Rx--stay tuned for details! Okay, here they are:

Shishitos are tasty little peppers that you can add to any dish you're cooking, but are most fun to enjoy with a group. These peppers are mild and delicious and make a great tapas dish to share, but beware, because every one in ten or so is spicy -- better have a beer nearby as you take turns trying the next pepper! So grab a few friends and a few beers and cook up a little party (if you're lucky enough to have family members that feel like friends, even better). Everyone likes surprises ...at least when it's food related, so if you call something "surprise" it's sure to get people excited. If you add mushrooms and cashews to just about anything, I get excited. For this splendid little wonder of a culinary treat, you'll need a vegetable peeler to make long ribbons from your squash.
