Welcome to Week 46!

We look forward to seeing all full-share, mini-share, EVEN-week half-share and Delivered-share members this week.

THREE!
We are in the home stretch to the end of Fair Shares Season 11! After this week, we have only TWO weeks remaining before our March break. Half-share members, this is your second-to-last pickup before our break, so start stocking up on your staples!

We will host a Happy Hour Shopping Day on March 13th--which will allow everyone to stock up for St. Patrick's Day parties. We won't be serving green beer, though, so you'll have to satisfy that desire elsewhere.

MILK PRICE INCREASE
We were informed by Ozark Mountain Creamery that the prices have increased. All milk varieties are increasing by $.25 per bottle and heavy cream is increasing by $1.00.

Valentine's Day Special!
Bittersweet Chocolates' dreamy sauces--available in Bourbon Butterscotch, Dark Chocolate Fudge or Salted Caramel Chocolate--are on sale for $11 (save $1), and when you add in the amazing Bittersweet Molten Lava Cakes for $9.50, we'll take off an extra $1.00 on the two!  While supplies last, we'll include the red organza bag on the sauce. Sweet!
Look for the Bittersweet Deal options in the store under the candy category.

Trades and Orders

Please check your list at the bottom of the newsletter and note that we may be giving a choice, or more info there than what is listed in your cart. Login to your Fair Shares account in Farmigo to make trades and order extras. The tradable items in your share are listed in your cart. You can delete the items you don't want and add in other items from the store.

As we approach the end of the season, we try to reduce our inventory, so you will see more choices or Shopping Spree! (formerly known as Wildcard) options in the shares. We'll put a variety out for you to choose from, but we're really just trying to keep the over/under values on the shares as close to $0 as possible. Feel free to customize your share to include what you and your family like. You're not hurting our feelings when you trade everything out of your share. Now is the time to fill your larder with all the staples you'll need for our upcoming break.

Ordering Deadlines:
11a.m. Wednesday for Wednesday pickup groups
Noon Thursday for Thursday pickup groups

9 a.m. Thursday for Delivered Share members

If you're a half share wanting to order from the store on your off weeks, let us know and we'll set up your cart to handle that. Otherwise, you can just come on in and shop in person during regular pickup hours.

Thursday pickup groups: we often don't have time to pull Thursday orders on Wednesday, and we may not have everything available if you ordered before the store update Wednesday evening.

Please note that on-premise sales may make the numbers in the store inventory moot. In the event that we are out of any items you ordered, we will either email, send substitutes or omit the item (depending on how much time we have). Any questions, email orders@fairshares.org.

Being part of a CSA is a great way to support the local economy and our local farms. Seeking out restaurants that buy from local producers is another important step. That can be tricky though for a number of reasons. Missouri Coalition for the Environment has a helpful resource.Read more

Goody goody grain grain! If you've never used wheat berries or oat groats, you may feel a bit uninspired when you have them in your share. If you have experience, and have found that you like these little nuggets, share your favorite uses or recipes with us on one of our Social Media platforms linked in the newsletter. Here's how I like to use them--and honestly, even though the flavor is quite different, I use them interchangeably: Rinse in cool water, cover by one inch of clean water in a two-to four-quart pot. Boil in water or broth until soft, 25-30 minutes. Drain and rinse. Store ...Read more
