Welcome to Week 41!

We look forward to seeing all full-share, mini-share, ODD-week half-share and Delivered-share members this week.

We are officially in the count down to the end of Fair Shares Season 10! After this week, we have 7 weeks remaining before our March break.

Trades and Orders

Please login to your Fair Shares account in Farmigo to make trades and order extras. The tradable items in your share are listed in your cart. You can delete the items you don't want and add in other items from the store. Remember, the store is open only until noon on the day of your pickup, and Delivered Share members have from now until until 9:30 on Thursday morning to place orders.

We don't have lots of fresh produce, but still an impressive enough list for January. Now is the time to fill your larder with all the staples you'll need for our upcoming break--which includes Easter and (the start of) Passover. Feel free to customize your share to include what you and your family like.

We have a few half, boneless hams from Todd Geisert available in the store. $8/lb. Maybe 5lb. to 7lb. If you want to purchase now, we will put your name on it and store it for you for Easter (we'll be having a shopping day happy hour sometime in the middle of March when you can pick it up.)

We request Thursday pickup groups wait until after Wednesday pickups are over before ordering.
Please note that on-premise sales may make the numbers in the store inventory moot. In the event that we are out of any items you ordered, we will either email, send substitutes or omit the item (depending on how much time we have). Any questions, email orders@fairshares.org.

This was a pretty quick and easy meal that was a delicious preparation for the sirloin kebab meat in the shares. Would that I had remembered to take photos before getting it on the plate...Read more
Julia Childs comes through again with this basic recipe for turnips--we used golden ball variety, which are mild and sweet, and even taste good raw. This would be a great preparation for any type of turnip, rutabagas, and even your radishes, too.Read more
Read Dr. Amy Knoblock-Hahn's Recipe on her website Whole Food is Medicine for Sichuan Carrot Soup, which will be perfect for those local carrots here at Fair Shares...just what the doctor ordered.Read more
Don't Despair about Your Share! This time of the year isn't very abundant in the fresh produce department, so now is the time to explore the wonderful world of "value-added foods" we offer from the area. This utterly unappetizing term is the industry name used for all the lovely produce that has been processed and canned or frozen or dried for our winter shares.Read more
This is a recipe for fresh pasta. This one calls for gnocchi, which we just get frozen, but any short pasta would work well here. This is completely made up, which means you can make up your own version based on what is available. The basic requirements that make this work well are: fresh pasta, veggies, good flavoring (onion, garlic, herbs), something juicy (fresh or canned tomatoes, some broth, etc.), greens (also adds some moisture), and a cheese (you could skip this, but really, why?)Read more
This is a contribution from member Todd Eller: Julia Child once said the true test of any good cook is how well they can roast a chicken. No offense to Julia but I find it one of the easiest dishes to prepare, full of flavor and endless seasoning possibilities. So this week I give you my roasted rosemary chicken recipe. Learn this basic way to roast a whole chicken and then trade out the rosemary for any of your favorite herbs and seasonings.Read more
