Welcome to Week 30!

We look forward to seeing all full-share, mini-share, EVEN-week half-share and Delivered share members this week.

THURSDAY PICKUP MEMBERS*: please wait until Wednesday evening to place your orders. We only have time to fill the Wednesday pickup orders on Wednesday. Please note that we will not have time to inventory and update the store until after Wednesday pickups are over. Therefore any items ordered before 8p.m. may not be available by the time we are able to gather your orders on Thursday.

Note that because of the time required to update all the items in the store, we may overestimate availability so that it doesn't falsely show that we are out. Please understand that we may send a choice, or notify you by email that we need you to give us a second choice.

*Delivered-share members: please order by 9:30a.m. Thursday.

If you want to browse the store, but find it closed, you can log out of your account and just look around without ordering at this link: https://csa.farmigo.com/store/fairsharesccsa.

You are not required to make your trades and additional purchases ahead of your pickup, and you can always adjust or add on when you come in. If you would like to try for the first time,
your weekly share is still listed below and on the website. The tradable items in your share are listed in the Store when you click on your Cart, as if you are purchasing the items, and you can delete/trade them in and select other items from the store. We still require you to spend the value of your trade and the credits will not carry over from week to week.

If you email your order, be sure to include your account name--which is your last name and pickup group, so we know where to send the food.

Thursday is National Pumpkin Day and Halloween is just around the corner!
We have jack-o-lantern pumpkins and mini decorative pumpkins available in the store and at the Mothership!

Thanksgiving is just down the block, so Let's Talk Turkey
If you would like to purchase a fresh, free-range, pastured, hormone and anti-biotic free turkey for Thanksgiving this year, please email sara@fairshares.org. Please tell your friends--no membership is required to purchase a turkey through Fair Shares.

Hens will weigh 16-20 and Toms will weigh 23 and up. $3.95/lb. We will assign the birds we get to the sizes requested on a first come, first served basis. If you don't tell us the size you want, you might get the 30-pound bird!

Turkeys will be delivered fresh to Fair Shares and will be available for pickup on Monday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Please mark your calendars for that week--all Fair Shares Mothership pickups will be Monday or Tuesday (your choice), and UCity and Kirkwood pickups will be on Tuesday. Delivered share members will receive a double share the week before Thanksgiving.

Can you believe we're still getting delicious ripe tomatoes in the shares--and in pretty good abundance, even? With slicers, heirlooms and a variety of cherry tomatoes as well, I just had to have tomatoes in every dish. There was nothing complicated or fussy going on here, just honest to goodness tomato deliciousness.Read more
Order by Wednesday the 20th! Matt and Eleanor Tiefenbrun of Buttonwood Farm have our pastured, happy turkeys well under way. Reserve yours through your online cart--Thanksgiving is right around the corner. You can tell all your friends, too, because even non-members are welcome to purchase their Thanksgiving turkeys from Fair Shares! You can also order just boneless breasts, wings, drumsticks or thighs.Read more
Roasting chestnuts is easy, but the preparation can seem laborious if you aren't in love with chestnuts like I am, or if you don't use the right tool, or if you haven't done it numerous times. It's worth it, I asure, and I would be happy to give a demonstration if you pick up at the Mothership.Read more
Whether you are sad to see summer go, or you are happy to welcome in the cooler weather, it's hard to deny that come winter, we'll all be missing the summer produce. For those of you who are tired of tomatoes, exhausted by eggplant and pooped of peppers, take this opportunity to put some sunshine in the freezer for a snowy day.Read more
It doesn't get much more simple, or simply delicious than this. Four ingredients and you will never look at broccoli the same again.Read more
Beets and fennel compliment each other nicely, and the addition of fresh mozzarella or chevre and balsamic vinaigrette add the texture and tartness that pulls it all together for a salad that is both earthy and refreshing. Other additions to consider: chopped cucumber, fresh-shucked corn, chopped sweet bell peppers, chopped roasted hot peppers.Read more
