Welcome to Week 28!

We look forward to seeing all full-share, mini-share, EVEN-week half-share and Delivered share members tomorrow and Thursday.

Please do not add items to your cart before we have added your tradable share items (this will be Tuesday afternoons). If you do, it will not populate your cart when we add your tradable items and we will need to add them manually, so you will need to go back in and delete any items you wish to trade.

THURSDAY PICKUP MEMBERS*: We send the email on Tuesday, but please wait until Wednesday evening to place your orders. We only have time to fill the Wednesday pickup orders on Wednesday. Please note that we will not have time to inventory and update the store until after Wednesday pickups are over. Therefore any items ordered before 8p.m. may not be available by the time we are able to gather your orders.

Note that because of the time required to update all the items in the store, we may overestimate availability so that it doesn't falsely show that we are out. Please understand that we may send a choice, or notify you by email that we need you to give us a second choice.

*Delivered-share members: please order by 9:30a.m. Thursday.

If you want to browse the store, but find it closed, you can log out of your account and just look around without ordering at this link: https://csa.farmigo.com/store/fairsharesccsa.

You are not required to make your trades and additional purchases ahead of your pickup, and you can always adjust or add on when you come in. If you would like to try for the first time,
your weekly share is still listed below and on the website. The tradable items in your share are listed in the Store when you click on your Cart, as if you are purchasing the items, and you can delete/trade them in and select other items from the store. We still require you to spend the value of your trade and the credits will not carry over from week to week.

If you email, be sure to include your account name--which is your last name and pickup group, so we know where to send the food.

Mystery Check
We got a check in the mail from a Bird M in Wausau Wisconsin and we don't know who this is or what it is for. If this is familiar to you, please let us know so we can apply the money to the proper account.

Let's Talk Turkey
Believe it or not, it's that time again. If you would like to purchase a fresh, free-range, pastured, hormone and anti-biotic free turkey for Thanksgiving this year, please email sara@fairshares.org. Hens will weigh 16-20 and Toms will weigh 23 and up. $3.95/lb. We will assign the birds we get to the sizes requested on a first come, first served basis. If you don't tell us the size you want, you might get the 30-pound bird!

Beets and fennel compliment each other nicely, and the addition of fresh mozzarella or chevre and balsamic vinaigrette add the texture and tartness that pulls it all together for a salad that is both earthy and refreshing. Other additions to consider: chopped cucumber, fresh-shucked corn, chopped sweet bell peppers, chopped roasted hot peppers.Read more
Roasting chestnuts is easy, but the preparation can seem laborious if you aren't in love with chestnuts like I am, or if you don't use the right tool, or if you haven't done it numerous times. It's worth it, I asure, and I would be happy to give a demonstration if you pick up at the Mothership.Read more
Sometimes inspiration strikes, but it's more of a strike out. And sometimes, the heavens open and the angels do sing... This was such a happy lunch that I had to do it again for dinner. The third time, I omitted the ham and substituted pecans; the angels started singing in rounds.Read more
The best tomato soup I ever ate was at The Tap Room back in 1992, when a cook named Sherry used to make it, but would never give out her recipe. It was rich and creamy with chunks of delicious tomato, and I would have put money on there being bacon in it, but Sherry swore it was vegetarian. This recipe is vegetarian, but I'd bet crumbled bacon as a garnish would put it over the top. Serve with a grilled cheese sandwich for a little comfort food.Read more
This recipe is from Cooking Light, but I usually take out all references to "light" "low-fat" and "fat-free" because I think that fake stuff will kill you! Enjoy everything in moderation, but enjoy it fully!Read more
Order by Wednesday the 20th! Matt and Eleanor Tiefenbrun of Buttonwood Farm have our pastured, happy turkeys well under way. Reserve yours through your online cart--Thanksgiving is right around the corner.
