FS10 Wk 23, Sept. 6&7, 2017

Welcome to Week 23!

We look forward to seeing all full-share, mini-share, ODD-week half-share and Delivered share members tomorrow and Thursday.

Note that we have our annual sanity break the final week of September. We will be counting this as Week 26, so Full and EVEN-week half-share members will skip a share, and you all may feel free to shop for groceries on your off-weeks.

New Member Accounting System
Most of you have gotten acquainted with our new system already, but if you haven't yet, please login to your new Member Account to make trades and place orders. Use your email and the password farmfresh--you'll be prompted to create a new password the first time you login.

If your account credit is below $75 (or if it's a negative), we will require payment before you get your shareThe number listed as a positive balance is your prepaid credit available. The amount listed next to it as your available credit is the total of your tradable items for the week, which are listed in your cart. Any items you delete (trade) from your cart will give you that credit to spend. Please remember that trades don't carry over and you have to spend the value of your trade.

If you haven't yet select a new payment plan, please note that recurring payments are no longer tied to the calendar, nor do they reflect a certain number of shares. You will need to select a payment amount that covers at least all of your shares for one month (Full Share members need to select at least $300; if you can afford to pay more in advance, we could really use the help). Click the Recurring payment box at the bottom to continue and enter your credit card info. You may change your payment plan at any time.

Really, nothing about the program is different from before, it's just a new way to track it, so jump in and try out the new shopping cart!

IMPORTANT: Do not add items to your cart before we have added your tradable share items (this will be Tuesday afternoons)!
If you do, it will not populate your cart when we add your tradable items and we will need to add them grudgingly manually. We close the store after noon on your pickup day to avoid having orders that we won't see and that will charge on your account whether you received them or not. The store opens back up on Friday, but please avoid filling your cart until the weekend so we can make sure we've closed out the previous week's transactions.
You are not required to make your trades and additional purchases ahead of your pickup, and you can always adjust or add on--again, nothing has really changed.

If you want to browse the store, but find it closed, you can log out of your account and just look around without ordering at this linkhttps://csa.farmigo.com/store/fairsharesccsa.

Please do note that we haven't updated all items with accurate inventory yet, so some things may not show up even though we have them (email if there's something you don't see), and somethings may show up, but we're out of them. Also take a look at the other shares below--we'll be adding extra produce that's available in the store if/when we have time, but if you see something you like that isn't in the store, go ahead and email us.

You are not required to make your trades and additional purchases ahead of your pickup, and you can always adjust or add on--again, nothing has really changed.

*Thanks to our amazing member volunteers. We love our volunteers and couldn't do it without you all (seriously, we can barely do it with you right now!).

We appreciate your patience again this week as we try out the new trades and order system, and we apologize in advance for the mistakes.

Trades and Additional Purchases

We are now attempting to use the online store in the new Farmigo system, but it's not as complete as we'd like, and is a work in progress. You can still email if you're having trouble, but we do hope to get everyone using the store Please read the information below before you login to your your account per the instructions in last Tuesday's email (login with your email and password farmfresh for the first time).

Your weekly share is still listed below and on the website. The tradable items in your share are listed in the Store when you click on your Cart. It presents it as if you are purchasing the items, and you can delete/trade them in and select other items from the store. We still require you to spend the value of your trade and the credits will not carry over from week to week. Do your best and we'll go from there.

*Delivered-share members: please order by 9:30a.m. Thursday.

If you email, be sure to include your account name--which is your last name and pickup group, so we know where to send the food.

Kitchen Kulture

We got some Corn Chowder, Yellow Tomato Gazpacho and Peach Miso Dressing in this week. See what all is available in the store - login to your your account (if you want something not listed there, email--we may not have had time to add it yet). We are sold out of Saag Paneer and Lentil Stew.

PRODUCE

We haven't been able to update all the numbers in the online store, but want you to know that the majority of the food items you buy at the grocery store are probably available through Fair Shares (we know this because you leave your Trader Joe's and Schnuck's receipts in your bags, ha!). Send us an email if you want to come in on another day to get a few extras. Did you check the new online store from your Farmigo account

Anyone who offered to help with computer time at home, please remind me (Sara)-- I have tasks!

Sorry for the lame-ish newsletters lately. If anyone has an extra day in the week to spare, we'd like to borrow it--especially if it's a weekend; we could really use a weekend day...

How To Eat Figs

Fresh, ripe figs are a delicacy that not many people get the chance to enjoy. Because of this, a bit of information may be helpful to those of you who haven't experienced a fresh fig. Unlike the dried version, which will live on indefinitely in the cupboard, fresh figs are highly perishable and must be refrigerated, and handled carefully. They are picked ripe, which makes them sweet and flavorful, but also very delicate, and they need to be eaten right away. figbliss.jpg Figs do mold quickly, but many people mistake the blue, waxy-looking substance that forms along the bottom or... This recipe was created with larger bell peppers in mind, but will work well for other peppers, either hot or sweet, such as corno de toro, ancho and poblano peppers. Go ahead and make extra, so your dreams of more in the future will come true.Read more
These are great in a Bloody Mary, in case you--like me--no longer go to the grocery store to buy celery, and you need more than a pickle spear in your Bloody Mary (or bloody shame, for you teetotalers). This is a refrigerator pickling recipe, so it doesn't require canning equipment.Read more
