Invitation to Lee Farms Tour Sunday May 31st

Hello 2015 Lee Farms CSA Members!

Thanks again for being a member of the CSA this summer!  We are excited about the upcoming season!  We grow all of our produce outside in the field, so we are a few weeks away from our first locally grown produce delivery.  We are still anticipating an early June start, but we will be completely dependent upon the weather to help us determine when that first delivery will occur.  Prior to your first delivery you will receive an email notification from us giving you all of the details about the time/date/place/instructions for your specific pick up location.  As the end of May/beginning of June approaches, please keep a close eye on your email.  If there is another email address that you prefer we use, please let us know.

Every year we host a farm tour for our CSA members so you can see exactly where and how your food is grown and also give your family an opportunity to get your hands dirty. The last several years we have had that farm tour toward the end of the growing season, so this year we wanted to let you experience a different season on the farm.  Please mark Sunday afternoon, May 31 on your calendars for a trip out to Truxton to see the farm at the beginning of the growing season!

The farm will be open to visit from 2 pm until 4 pm on the 31st, but the tour of the fields will leave from the shed at 2:30, so plan on arriving prior to 2:30 (wear comfortable shoes). Come prepared for the weather – the tour will happen rain or shine – if it is muddy you might want to bring a change of clothes/shoes for the kids.  For food safety reasons we ask that you leave your pets at home.

RSVP to with the number of people from your family who will be attending so we are better able to prepare, but please don’t stay home if you do not let us know you are coming. As a special treat this year we are having the Taste of Mayberry kettle corn trailer at the farm tour to pop kettle corn with our Lee Farms popcorn for everyone to enjoy.

Directions to the Farm:

From St. Louis head west on I-70 (or I-64 to I-70 at Wentzville)

Take Exit 188 off I-70 (Truxton exit)

We are the first place that you get to—white house and big white shed with a burgundy roof on the left side of the road. Look for our signs on tour day

Our address is 39358 Pin Oak Church Rd in Truxton, but most GPS systems will take you past our place, so look for our signs

If you have any questions, please let us know – we hope to see many of you here on Sunday, May 31st!

Thanks again for supporting our family farm!

Del Carmen has been a vendor for Fair Shares for 3+ years now.  We have developed a quality relationship based on trust. Our communications have been seamless. In addition, Fair Shares and its members have been great marketers for our products.  As a (very) small business, we are unable to advertise or market our products, so we have to rely on word of mouth.  Many of our customers are, were, or know Fair Shares members who have recommended our products.

Del Carmen has also benefitted from valuable ideas for use of existing products and suggestions in product development from the Fair Shares community.  I go to them for feedback, knowing I will get good, reliable and useful information.

We thank you, Fair Shares, for your support and commitment to del Carmen. We wish you much continued success.  After all, your success also helps the success of del Carmen and other local vendors and farmers.
