Welcome to Fair Shares Season 17 Wk27

We'll see all Full Share, Mini Share, and ODD-week Half Share members this week.

(Note the ODD and EVEN half shares correspond to the odd- or even-numbered weeks of our season.)

Your assigned pickup day is [Delivery Day], but if you ever need to switch the day or location, reply to this email before 10a.m. Wednesday, and then look for a thumbs up or confirmation reply from us.

LOGIN HERE to select your time and ADD it in your cart. Make sure that the time you want is in your order confirmation email. If you don't receive an automated confirmation email, your order didn't go through. You may update your cart as many times as you like until we run our report at 10:30 Wednesday. Your share will be packed for you regardless of whether you make changes or select a time. The time just helps us organize and have your bags ready when you arrive.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account, but keep in mind that we update the store inventory on Tuesdays just before sending out the newsletter.

This email is how we communicate with members. Please at least scan it so you know any important information. If you have questions, just reply to this email. You can find past newsletters on the website here.

Share Holds need to be placed by 8am Monday, before we order your produce for the week.

With no-shows and extras already ordered for the store, there can be a glut of leftover produce if share holds are placed after we order.

In the wintertime, this isn't a big problem, but in high-produce season we have to charge you for the produce if you put your share on hold late. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Check Your Bags!

Please help us by confirming that the bag we give you has your name on it (sometimes we know your name, sometimes we think we know your name, sometimes we grab the wrong bag).

Also please scan the outside of the bag near your name for notes that might require we grab something from the freezer, or for you to make a choice. We can be easily distracted and miss something when handing out so many shares.

Check that you've gotten everything you were supposed to receive--if you're missing produce that we need to credit you for, that's a loss we'd rather not take if we can help it.

Week 27

We are gauging interest for Halloween Pumpkins and Decorative Gourds from our farmer John Kopmann at Three Girls and a Tractor. The first week at pickups being Oct 8-10. Please see our Facebook post and note any item(s) you are looking to purchase. Feel free to comment if you are looking for multiple of the same item. We will also have a sign up sheet on site.

Tip: Freeze Your Peppers!

Do you know you can freeze peppers? This time of year I have so many peppers rolling around in my fridge. When winter hits and I make chili, stew, soup, or meatloaf, I am happy I took the time to chop and freeze them.

Thanks for Your Donation!

Thanks to those of you who have generously offered your shares to friends and family while on vacation. Our produce farmers especially appreciate it, and introducing your friends to Fair Shares is a great way to keep us sustainable.

People love to try new experiences. It's a great way to thank your house sitters while you're away!

Jalapeno Corn Pudding

Even if you aren't a hot pepper fan, if you pull the ribs and seeds from your jalapenos, it will make them more mild, and you will love this dish!

Notes on Trades and Orders

If you have questions or an issue to resolve, please email info@fairshares.org. Do not reply to the order confirmation emails that send to orders@fairshares.org account--WE DO NOT ALWAYS CHECK THAT MAILBOX BEFORE PICKUPS, so if you want a reply, use info@fairshares.org, which goes to both Jamie and Sara, and one of us will see it.

The share clipboards below will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart but you are welcome to buy extra. Any amount over the tradeable value will show as Extra Credit and you will be charged additional plus tax on that amount.

Here's a video demo on how to make trades. Note that Farmigo has updated their system to allow you to click the items in your cart that have variations for you to select. Here's the link to LOGIN.

Please check the descriptions of items! Some things are sold by the pound (indicated by /lb. in the item name) so the actual price will be different from what's listed in the store. If what's in your bag is not what you were expecting, give it back. If you're at the Mothership, you may be able to choose something else. This is particularly important on items like bulk chicken breasts, where the item price shows the price per pound, but the package weight may be five pounds.
