Welcome to Fair Shares Season 18 Wk28

We'll see all Full Share, Mini Share, and EVEN-week Half Share members this week.
(Note the ODD and EVEN half shares correspond to the odd- or even-numbered weeks of our season.)

Your assigned pickup day is [Delivery Day], but if you ever need to switch the day or location, reply to this email before 10a.m. Wednesday.

LOGIN HERE to select your time and ADD it in your cart. If you don't receive a confirmation email, your order didn't go through. You may update your cart as many times as you like. Your share will be packed for you regardless of whether you make changes or select a time. The time just helps us organize and have your bags ready when you arrive.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account, but keep in mind that we update the store inventory on Tuesdays just before sending out the newsletter.

This email is how we communicate with members. Please at least scan it so you know any important information, such as the notice below. If you have questions, just reply to this email.

Week 28

  • NEW: Beets with tops, Cabbage (limited!), Carrots, Cauliflower, Sugar Snap Peas, Spinach, Japanese Turnips, Honeynut Squash, Pumpkins!
  • Honeynut squash is a very small/sweet variety of winter squash that looks like a miniature butternut squash. They don’t store long so get them and use them, while we have them! Watermelons have not been offered the last two weeks. What we have at the store might be our last of the season.
  • Pictured: Delicata Squash, Kale Mix and English Shelling Peas
Once the summer heat begins to subside, we start seeing greens again. Some of the tougher or spicier greens might appeal more cooked, but could also be shredded and added to a salad. Conversely, the more tender greens, even lettuces, can be cooked in a quick stir fry, or on the grill.

Tahini 101

Tahini 101
Tahini is a paste made from ground sesame seeds. It used in abundance in mideastern cuisine. It is one of the main ingredients in hummus and salad dressings, for which you'll find recipes below.

Note that the tahini we have is just past its best by date, but the internet says: When stored properly, an unopened jar of tahini can remain good even up to 1-2 years past its best-by date. So please help us use this up with these yummy recipes... Read more

Tagliatelle with Roasted Poblano Cream Sauce

Tagliatelle with Roasted Poblano Pepper Cream Sauce
This is super easy to throw together and if you add grilled or roasted chicken you can make it a meal. It will also be great with some Italian sausage or even ground pork or seared salmon.

I've been obsessed with tahini sauce in the past half a year, and havew tried a variety. This one from Cookie and Kate was possibly the best.

Notes on Trades and Orders

If you have questions or an issue to resolve, please email info@fairshares.org. Do not reply to the order confirmation emails that send to orders@fairshares.org account--WE DO NOT CHECK THAT MAILBOX BEFORE PICKUPS, so if you want a reply, use info@fairshares.org, which goes to both Jamie and Sara, and one of us will see it.

The share clipboards below will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart but you are welcome to buy extra. Any amount over the tradeable value will show as Extra Credit and you will be charged additional plus tax on that amount.

Here's a video demo on how to make trades. Note that Farmigo has updated their system to allow you to click the items in your cart that have variations for you to select. Here's the link to LOGIN.

Please check the descriptions of items! Some things are sold by the pound (indicated by /lb. in the item name) so the actual price will be different from what's listed in the store. If what's in your bag is not what you were expecting, give it back. If you're at the Mothership, you may be able to choose something else. This is particularly important on items like bulk chicken breasts, where the item price shows the price per pound, but the package weight may be five pounds.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account.
When you pick up, remember to read your bag for any messages. There might be a decision you need to make on something. We don't add the half gallon bottles of milk (or pizza at the Mothership) to your bag, so need to get it when you pickup.

Blue Heron Fire Roasted Jalapenos

Those of you who have been members for a while may remember Blue Heron's Fire Roasted Jalapenos. They are smoky, spicy, and absolutely delicious. They will be coming in a pint jar, rather than the half-pint shown below. They cost a bit more in comparison, but are so worth it, and they make a great gift!

SHARE HOLDS NEED TO BE MADE BY 8:00A.M. MONDAY

If you realize too late that you aren't going to be able to get your share, consider asking a friend if they'd like to take it--whether for payment as a gift (it's a great way to pay dog walkers or house sitters!). It also helps us recruit new members. You can also contact us to arrange another pickup time. But with the amount and value of fresh produce in the shares, we can't afford to purchase all the extras we won't be able to sell.
