Welcome to Fair Shares Season 18 Wk24

We'll see all Full Share, Mini Share, and EVEN-week Half Share members this week.
(Note the ODD and EVEN half shares correspond to the odd- or even-numbered weeks of our season.)

Your assigned pickup day is [Delivery Day], but if you ever need to switch the day or location, reply to this email before 10a.m. Wednesday.

LOGIN HERE to select your time and ADD it in your cart. If you don't receive a confirmation email, your order didn't go through. You may update your cart as many times as you like. Your share will be packed for you regardless of whether you make changes or select a time. The time just helps us organize and have your bags ready when you arrive.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account, but keep in mind that we update the store inventory on Tuesdays just before sending out the newsletter.

This email is how we communicate with members. Please at least scan it so you know any important information, such as the notice below. If you have questions, just reply to this email.

September Sanity Break - NEXT WEEK, Wk 25, Sept 14-20

This is the fourth notice that our Fair Shares September Sanity Break will be NEXT WEEK, Week 25, September 14-20. Full and Mini shares will miss a week. ODD-week Half shares, your next pickup will be October 1 and 2, so let us know if you want to do some shopping this week before or the week after our break if your account is not already setup to do so. EVEN-week Half shares will be none the wiser and won't feel a thing!

Kirkwood Needs Volunteers!

Kirkwood Members, one of our amazing volunteers is moving and we are in need of finding a replacement to help get shares set up and handed out to members. If you have a few moments before and/or during pickups that you could commit, we would be most grateful!

Week 24

  • NEW: Orange watermelon, arugula, flamingo and Scotch bonnet (Hot) peppers, sweet potatoes, and we're hoping for apple cider and Fuji apples
  • After a slow week we are back with lots of produce! Fall is peeking around the corner, giving us Swiss chard and arugula! Yay!
  • Returning: Swiss chard, habanada and lunchbox peppers, patty pan and zephyr squash
  • Pictured: Jonathan apples, Marconi Peppers, Swiss Chard

Eggplant Boats

Eggplant Boats
by Sara Hale

Just found this recipe from years ago to post about eggplants. It made me laugh because I now live on a boat and I'm in Maine for the summer!

I'm looking forward to being on a boat on the coast of Maine in a couple of weeks, so let's make some delicious eggplant boats to get us in the mood. …Read more

Notes on Trades and Orders

If you have questions or an issue to resolve, please email info@fairshares.org. Do not reply to the order confirmation emails that send to orders@fairshares.org account--WE DO NOT CHECK THAT MAILBOX BEFORE PICKUPS, so if you want a reply, use info@fairshares.org, which goes to both Jamie and Sara, and one of us will see it.

The share clipboards below will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart but you are welcome to buy extra. Any amount over the tradeable value will show as Extra Credit and you will be charged additional plus tax on that amount.

Here's a video demo on how to make trades. Note that Farmigo has updated their system to allow you to click the items in your cart that have variations for you to select. Here's the link to LOGIN.

Please check the descriptions of items! Some things are sold by the pound (indicated by /lb. in the item name) so the actual price will be different from what's listed in the store. If what's in your bag is not what you were expecting, give it back. If you're at the Mothership, you may be able to choose something else. This is particularly important on items like bulk chicken breasts, where the item price shows the price per pound, but the package weight may be five pounds.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account.
When you pick up, remember to read your bag for any messages. There might be a decision you need to make on something. We don't add the half gallon bottles of milk (or pizza at the Mothership) to your bag, so need to get it when you pickup.

SHARE HOLDS NEED TO BE MADE BY 8:00A.M. MONDAY

If you realize too late that you aren't going to be able to get your share, consider asking a friend if they'd like to take it--whether for payment as a gift (it's a great way to pay dog walkers or house sitters!). It also helps us recruit new members. You can also contact us to arrange another pickup time. But with the amount and value of fresh produce in the shares, we can't afford to purchase all the extras we won't be able to sell.
