Welcome to Fair Shares Season 18 Wk20

We'll see all Full Share, Mini Share, and EVEN-week Half Share members this week.
(Note the ODD and EVEN half shares correspond to the odd- or even-numbered weeks of our season.)

Your assigned pickup day is [Delivery Day], but if you ever need to switch the day or location, reply to this email before 10a.m. Wednesday.

LOGIN HERE to select your time and ADD it in your cart. If you don't receive a confirmation email, your order didn't go through. You may update your cart as many times as you like. Your share will be packed for you regardless of whether you make changes or select a time. The time just helps us organize and have your bags ready when you arrive.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account, but keep in mind that we update the store inventory on Tuesdays just before sending out the newsletter.

This email is how we communicate with members. Please at least scan it so you know any important information, such as the notice below about share holds. If you have questions, just reply to this email.

UCity Needs Volunteers!

Our amazing, loyal volunteers in UCity have been doing this work since day one, and we are in our 18th season, so you do the math... These sweet old ladies (and men) could use a few strapping young (or even not so young) members to help them unload and setup all those big, heavy coolers. Help a grandma out, and get your food early! If you are available to help any time from 3:50-4:15, many hands make light work. Thanks, and let us know if you have questions; otherwise, show up with a strong back and know you're making someone's day!

Kirkwood Members, we'll be hitting you up for help later when one of our volunteers moves away.

Week 20

  • Some of our farmers are having a bit of a lull between crops, and a few others are stepping up to give us more variety.
  • Watermelons are starting to come in from more farmers, so get out those watermelon salad and cocktail recipes!
  • New: Figs, Leeks, Peppers (Candy Cane, Cayenne)
  • Returning: Celery, Poblano Peppers, Swiss Chard
FIG TIP: Fresh figs tend to split when they get wet or too humid, and will create a waxy blue substance that helps seal them up. Many of the uninitiated mistake this for mold, but trust us, this isn't mold and the figs are delicious right out of hand.

Notes on Trades and Orders

If you have questions or an issue to resolve, please email info@fairshares.org. Do not reply to the order confirmation emails that send to orders@fairshares.org account--WE DO NOT CHECK THAT MAILBOX BEFORE PICKUPS, so if you want a reply, use info@fairshares.org, which goes to both Jamie and Sara, and one of us will see it.

The share clipboards below will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart but you are welcome to buy extra. Any amount over the tradeable value will show as Extra Credit and you will be charged additional plus tax on that amount.

Here's a video demo on how to make trades. Note that Farmigo has updated their system to allow you to click the items in your cart that have variations for you to select. Here's the link to LOGIN.

Please check the descriptions of items! Some things are sold by the pound (indicated by /lb. in the item name) so the actual price will be different from what's listed in the store. If what's in your bag is not what you were expecting, give it back. If you're at the Mothership, you may be able to choose something else. This is particularly important on items like bulk chicken breasts, where the item price shows the price per pound, but the package weight may be five pounds.

Pro Tip: You can browse the store when it's "closed" by logging out of your account.
When you pick up, remember to read your bag for any messages. There might be a decision you need to make on something. We don't add the half gallon bottles of milk (or pizza at the Mothership) to your bag, so need to get it when you pickup.

SHARE HOLDS NEED TO BE MADE BY 8:00A.M. MONDAY

If you realize too late that you aren't going to be able to get your share, consider asking a friend if they'd like to take it--whether for payment as a gift (it's a great way to pay dog walkers or house sitters!). It also helps us recruit new members. You can also contact us to arrange another pickup time. But with the amount and value of fresh produce in the shares, we can't afford to purchase all the extras we won't be able to sell.

We want to give a big thanks to those of you who are buying extra produce, and who rearrange your half shares to take a share on your off week, or give your vacation shares to friends. With an average of over 40 members being on hold throughout the summer months, it really helps our farmers to move through the abundance of produce they've grown for our regular number of members.
