Welcome to Fair Shares Season 18 Wk1
It's hard to believe we're in our EIGHTEENTH year! We are so thankful to all of our members, both old and new, and we look forward to feeding you all for a new season. We have over a hundred members who have been part of our Fair Shares family for 10 years or longer, and nearly half of those have been in since our first three seasons when we had a waiting list.
|
We're especially grateful to our fabulous volunteer members who make this possible. It takes a village, and our Fair Shares Community is the most loyal and devoted group. ❤️🥰
|
We'll see all Full Share, Mini Share, and ODD-week Half Share members this week.
|
(Note the ODD and EVEN half shares correspond to the odd- or even-numbered weeks of our season.)

Share Price Increase vs. Shrinkage
We're sorry to report that there will need to be a price increase beginning this week for Season 18. Our farmers are all raising prices and some have told us upfront that they will increase the price of all their items across the board. We are seeing rises in much of the non-produce food we include as well. From a filling-the-shares perspective, this presents a tricky situation. We are here to help our farmers and small producers stay in business, and shrinking the shares in order to stay in our weekly budget is not our first choice option.
|
We've all seen how items in the grocery stores change packaging regularly, and if you take a look, you'll notice that half gallon milk is now only 53 oz. instead of 64 oz. Or that 12 oz. beer is now only 11 oz. Rather than trying to be deceptive and just shrink the volume without telling you, we will be adding a 6% increase on the share prices. Note that we are not increasing the price of all our food items across the board, only as they are being raised by our farmers. This may mean you get more in your share, but we expect even those who have not told us their pricing plans for the year will be asking for an increase.

There's a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, and we want to make sure our source of happy, healthy food continues. We appreciate those of you who are choosing Fair Shares and our suppliers. One thing we've remained consistent about all these years is voting with your dollar. Supporting small and local is part of it. Sometimes it's hard to know how to vote with your dollar, and we learned about an app called Goods Unite Us that has a list of companies and products, with a breakdown of who they support with their donations, so you can be informed, insomuch as we can really know.

Egg shortage: we were having some difficulty getting enough eggs to keep everyone happy, but we've heard that the shortage should be resolved soon, and we hope to have everyone's egg needs fully satisfied!

Biver Farms Organic Potted Plants Coming Week 3
We will again be taking pre-orders for potted herbs and bedding plants beginning Week 3. We will not offer plants until the appropriate planting time, and available plants will be listed in the store.
|
For those new to our system, we take pre-orders through the store, then order from Biver for delivery the following week. So your pre-order plants will be available at pickup the following week (or two weeks for half shares).

Mess o’ Greens Recipe
|
|
This recipe calls for collards, but any of your greens will be fabulous like this. Also note that we suggest rolling the leaves together and slicing them into 1/2-inch strips before cooking to avoid the mess and hassle later.

Notes on Trades and Orders
If you have questions or an issue to resolve, please email info@fairshares.org. Do not reply to the order confirmation emails that send to orders@fairshares.org account--WE DO NOT CHECK THAT MAILBOX BEFORE PICKUPS, so if you want a reply, use info@fairshares.org, which goes to both Jamie and Sara, and one of us will see it.

The share clipboards below will include the fresh produce on your list, but the cart in your Farmigo account lists only the tradable items in your share. You must spend the total credit value in your cart but you are welcome to buy extra. Any amount over the tradeable value will show as Extra Credit and you will be charged additional plus tax on that amount.
|
Please check the descriptions of items! Some things are sold by the pound (indicated by /lb. in the item name) so the actual price will be different from what's listed in the store. If what's in your bag is not what you were expecting, give it back. If you're at the Mothership, you may be able to choose something else. This is particularly important on items like bulk chicken breasts, where the item price shows the price per pound, but the package weight may be five pounds.
