FAQ

Q: Will you offer vegetarian shares or allow for customization to tailor to members' preferences?
A: Unfortunately, we won't be able to offer vegetarian or customizable shares.
At least for our first year, we must keep the program as uncomplicated as possible. Our suggestions are:
- find friends/family/neighbors or others in your delivery group who may be interested in purchasing your meat/eggs/cheese;
- donate the items you aren't interested in back to Fair Shares and know that you are helping to feed low income families or subsidize shares for low-income members;
- trade with other members in your delivery group;
- check the Forum to find others in your area who would like to work out a method to share a subscription.
Q: Will I be able to network with others in my pick-up site group to find out who might be interested in swapping items, sharing/alternating a weekly share, or taking turns/covering for me in the event I can't make it to the pick up site?
A: Yes!
We're working on building a blog for members to discuss these ideas. We want to stress the community part of Community Supported Agriculture, and we hope to help build relationships and friendships within our membership of like-minded individuals.

Q: Will I be able to cancel or transfer my membership?
A: No, but...
- Membership is an annual contract because we have committed to an estimated purchase amount with all of our providers. - Membership is non-transferable, so if you find someone who is willing to take over your weekly shares at your pickup site, they will need to pay the $50 membership fee, and you will need to forfeit your membership. This means if you want to sign up again next year, you will have to repay the $50 joining fee, otherwise we may have more members than shares we can provide. If you want to do it on the side, and you continue to pay us and find someone to pay you and pick up the shares, great--nothing changes for us and you still have membership status.

Q: When will I get my first share?
A: We are planning to start the program in mid to late April.
