Attention All Fair Shares Members!
With the holiday menus, we know there will be plenty of pie baking, potato mashing, and other traditional dishes being created, and we want to make sure you get all the great local foods Fair Shares has to offer. But...
We need to order in some things early, and we need to know ahead of time how much to get, so we're requesting orders by THIS Sunday, November 13th. Send to orders@fairshares.org and please include your account name, including pickup site!
Thanksgiving week is Week 32 of Fair Shares, meaning it's an EVEN half shares week.
Odd week half share-members: Since you won't be picking up the week of Thankgiving, if you'll need any potatoes, sweet potatoes, pecans, eggs or other ingredients for Thanksgiving, be sure to place your order for pickup next week.
Full-share and Even half-share members: you'll need to let us know if you'll want more than 2 lb. potatoes, 2 lb. sweet potatoes, 1/2 lb. pecans, 1 dozen eggs, 1 qt. applesauce, 1 pt. butternut squash (makes ~2 pumpkin pies) and 1/2 pound lettuce for the week of Thanksgiving.
Companion Bread will deliver your special orders to Fair Shares for Tuesdays pickups. Please email your orders to orders@fairshares.org from the order form attached below. If you are an odd-week half share member and want to pick up some bread and other fresh items on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, please note that in your email.
We aren't planning to put any mushrooms in the shares for the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, but will be happy to order some if you need them for your dressing, e.g. We will be happy to try to find any special order items, so let us know what you're looking for.
If you haven't yet ordered your turkey for Thanksgiving, now is the time! Matt Tiefenbrun at Buttonwood Farms says: I'm taking orders for thanksgiving turkeys, they are broad-breasted white, pasture-raised with no antibiotics or hormones. They will be delivered fresh on the 22nd of November, so you can get it when you make your Fair Shares pickup (he's planning to come around 4:30). The birds should be between 15 and 20 pounds and cost $3.15 lb. Let him know as soon as possible to ensure availability.
Contact Matt at mltiefenbrun@aol.com
Note that both Wednesday and Thursday pickup groups will be coming in to pick up on the same day, so things will be chaotic. Please allow a little extra time and be patient with us.
Thanks!
sara, Jamie, Lindy, Kevin and Arianna
