Welcome to Week 3
We hope everyone is enjoying their Fair Shares food! If you know of any good, locally and sustainably-produced foods that we don't yet carry, let us know! We're always looking for more variety.
Full Share Monthly Payment Members:
Your second payment is due May 1st, and should be arriving by automated payment, which you set up through your bank, unless you gave us your credit card number, or made a different arrangement with us. Please help us by making sure payments are arranged properly (meaning check with your bank, not meaning email us and ask!), and that the checks include your name and pickup group. Thanks!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!
We think we're sick of the rain. Imagine having a greenhouse or hoophouse burgeoning with plants that are ready to go in the ground, and a field that's under water. Or if it's not under water, imagine making a hole for your sweet little plant, and it immediately filling with water. Imagine a forecast with nothing but rain in the future. Imagine your crops that are in the field and under water. Or if they aren't under water, imagine how little they are growing because the sun won't come out.
I know I am impatient for the produce to start coming in abundance. I'm fantasizing about kale, asparagus, green onions and radishes, which I know are close, but not quite big enough to harvest. If only the sun would shine! So we ask everyone to do a little backwards rain dance for our farmers and our dinner plates.

All Dressed Up
Salad season is here! With more lettuce coming each week, how do you intend to keep the romance? Changing things up a bit is the obvious solution, since we all know that variety is the spice of life. So what is your salad wearing tonight? Are you a store-bought dressing kind of family or a home-made dressing kind of family? Do you want to be a DIY kind of family but haven't ventured into that arena yet? What are you waiting for? Are you afraid to make something more gross than some of those old bottles lurking in the back of the fridge? Now, now, there's nothing particularly daunting about making salad dressing, you just have to get beyond the preconceived notions of what a salad dressing is supposed to be like. We'll help you right here...

BYOB
Bring Your Own Bags!
Remember those sexy Fair Shares bags you got for your well-spent membership fee? We need you to bring them with you each week, or any bags for that matter. We have a few paper bags for those emergencies, but um, please be proactive and throw some bags in the trunk of all your vehicles, just in case.

Return Policy
We're more like a co-op than a grocery store. Unlike a grocery store, we can't allow items to be returned. We spend your money wisely and don't buy extra to account for lots of waste like grocery stores have to. Since we can't resell items that have left our hands due to health and safety regulations, once you take it home, it's yours. So choose wisely, and let those picking up for you know your preferences (or your phone number). Of course we will take back or replace items if there is a problem with them. Thank you for your understanding.
Keep in mind that although we are getting produce that is much fresher than what you will typically get from the grocery store, some of the produce our farmers grow include heirloom varieties, which may be prized for their flavor and texture, but they aren't produced on an industrial scale because they don't travel or hold up well unless picked before they are ripe. So some items may last much longer in the refrigerator than store-bought, while others need to be consumed quickly. Keep this in mind and keep an eye on the produce to see how it's holding up.
When you get your greens home, put them in plastic bags to keep them from drying out and wilting!
We suggest saving your plastic bags for this purpose.
